This year I decided that I could not skip out on the beautiful bouquets of flowers that I kept seeing at the farmer’s markets. We love visiting our local farmers at the South Pearl Street Farmers Market and it has been especially essential to support these businesses during this crazy year. All of the Colorado grown flowers always catch my eye whenever I pass them by.
There is always so much variety and the care taken into growing each flower can be seen in every minute detail. We stop to visit a farmers market every week no matter where we are at because we want to form a bond with the people who nourish us and honor a great commitment to keeping our state beautiful and healthy for a more sustainable future.
I have come across some really amazing farmers all across the state. So here in this post, I am sharing a round-up of my favorite flower farmers so you know where to go when you need a little something to brighten your day.
1. Colorado Grown Flowers: Zephyros Farm
Mountain towns like Telluride, Crested Butte, and Aspen are lucky to have this farm so close. The most vibrant flowers and produce always comes out of the Valley that makes up Paonia and Hotchkiss. If you are ever visiting the mountains in the summertime you will have to stop at one of the many farmers markets to find the most beautiful fruit and vegetables.
Zephyros Farm has one of the best displays of flowers that I have ever seen. They always have a huge variety of organically grown flowers and some veggies too. In fact, they are one of the only growers that have certified organic dahlias tubers. At the farmers market, you can choose from a small bouquet or large bouquet or build your own dream bouquet. The possibilities are endless.
2. Colorado Grown Flowers: Berry Patch Farms
Sometimes we can all use an escape to the countryside especially when the cities and suburbs are feeling way too cramped. If you live near Denver the best place to run to for some slow farm life is Berry Patch Farms in Brighton. They have a vibrant selection of u-pick flowers on their farm. Sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, dahlias, and more. They also offer berry picking throughout the summertime. Their barn store is stocked year-round with an amazing selection of organic produce. Learn more about this farm by reading my blogs about my berry picking and flower picking experience. We love visiting these amazing farmers every year.
3. Colorado Grown Flowers: Garden Sweet Farms
Garden Sweet is another amazing spot for u-pick flowers and berries. Their selection ranges from sunflowers, dahlias, marigolds, snapdragons, zinnias, and more. You can pick a small bouquet or a large bucket full of flowers. This farm also has a great field of u-pick strawberries and raspberries. We like to take a trip to Fort Collins every summer to see these sweet farmers. Read more about experience picking flowers and berries at this charming farm on my past blog posts.
4. City Gal Farms
City Gal Farms always had a beautiful display of flowers at the South Pearl St. Farmers Market. Unfortunately this year they were not at the farmers market because of the coronavirus. But I am hopeful they will return next year. But if you live close to Lakewood they were offering Porch Bouquets. Follow them on Instagram or Facebook to stay up to date. Their garden bouquets were some of the most delicate and beautiful things I have ever seen. I only bought a few stems from them here and there and now I really regret that I didn’t get the chance to buy one of their bouquets.
5. Pastures of Plenty
Pastures of Plenty is an organic farm that is located in Boulder. I have been buying produce from them for a very long time. They have stands at many of the markets I like to go to like the South Pear St. Market, Cherry Creek Market, and Boulder Market. This year I decided I wanted to buy more Colorado grown flowers regularly and I have been buying many of their beautiful bouquets. They grow over 70 varieties of heirloom and organic flowers on their farm. That is why their bouquets always catch the eye. There is always a unique surprise every week that has me going back for more.
6. Lakewood Growers Collective
The Lakewood Growers Collective is a group of farmers dedicated to strengthening a sustainable food system in the Denver area. They are one of my favorite stands to visit at the Southe Pearl Farmers Market. They offer an amazing variety of vegetables and the cutest garden bouquets.
7. Arrowhead Dahlias
The easiest way to find beautiful Colorado-grown flowers like Dahlias is when Arrowhead Dahlias start shipping their crop to Whole Foods. I love when I finally stumble upon this beautiful surprise during my weekly grocery shopping in the summertime. Arrowhead Dahlias have some of the most vibrant varieties of Dahlias. I would love to visit their farm one day to learn more about what they do.
Of course, there are many more farmers that I did not include because there is an abundance of amazing flower farmers in Colorado. There is no reason why we should be buying our flowers from anywhere else during the peak of flower season. I hope this blogpost helps inspire you to get out there and support more Colorado farmers.
