Things To Do In Kapaa Kauai

The Sleeping Giant trail Kauai

Where to Stay

Kapaa is a colorful and adorable beach town with all kinds of fun things to do. It is located just 20 minutes north of Lihue and is a great town to stay in when visiting Kauai. We stayed at the Marriott on Coconut Beach for the first couple of nights. The hotel was located right on the beach, has great mai tais, and bikes you can use to get around town. They were renovating the place when we were staying there. We stayed in a newly renovated room that was decorated with beautiful and modern beach decor. Once it is all finish it will be a really nice place to vacation.

Mai Tai O’clock

Our first day there we enjoyed a much-needed mai tai after a long day of flying, watching the waves crashing on the beach. Then we decided to adventure around town so we borrowed the bikes and we were off. There is a great bike path that goes along the beach which makes biking the best way to get around town and see the sights.

The Best Way to Get Around

The heart of Kapaa town is a short bike ride away and is full of cute shops and eateries. My favorite spot that we tried was Java Kai. We stopped there for breakfast and I ate a Mediterranean veggie bagel with a Kona coffee. Then we stopped by Kauai Juice Co. located in the back of Java Kai. They have tons of freshly pressed juice and kombucha. My green juice addiction was fueled as soon as I tried their energizing concoctions. There are also a lot of fruit trucks in town that has some good eats, I wish I could have tried them all. And there were lots of cute shops, a lot of the clothing was made out sustainable materials like organic cotton and hemp. Having a juice while sitting on the beach and wondering the town was my one of favorite parts of the whole trip. I really wish I could live in this adorable town.

Don’t Miss the Farmers Market

On the first Saturday of the month make sure you check out the street festival filled with all kinds of fun craft vendors and even more food trucks. Then every Wednesday, at 3 pm the Kapaa farmers market takes place at the Town Park. It is the biggest farmers market on the island and host up to 100 different farmers.

Happy Hour Spot

Another place we visited was the Lava Lava Beach Club. We really liked the one on the Big Island. Their happy hour drink specials are great and the regular menu for food is pretty delicious. However, the happy hour food menu is nothing special, just your typical cheap bar food. But it is a great place to go for a mai tai or Gilligan girl( made with pineapple juice, coconut water, and ginger liqueur) and an ocean view.

Kapaa Trails

Another activity that I highly recommend is the Sleeping Giant trailhead located in Kapaa. It is a great hike that is moderate and a great elevation if you are looking to get a good work out in. Plus if you make it to the top you will be able to enjoy an amazing view.

Have you been to Kapaa? What is your favorite activity/spot?? Let me know in the comments!! The next blog post will feature Hanalei Bay and all the fun spots to visit. Stay tuned!!
